| DOE just launched the Solar Energy Evolution and Diffusion Studies 4 (SEEDS 4) funding opportunity that will award $7 million for social science research that generates actionable insights that can be deployed to improve large-scale solar siting processes and outcomes for host communities and solar stakeholders. SETO received and reviewed 31 responses and has summarized the feedback. Are you a student, researcher, or professional with a passion for solar energy? You can join SETO in advancing solar technologies and deployment through the Science, Technology, and Policy Fellowship! Selected participants will play an integral role in designing and implementing new initiatives to make solar energy more affordable and reliable. Applications are due January 15.  With a $1.2 million SETO award, the University of New Hampshire and Inclusiv Credit Union created the Solar and Green Lending Professional Training. This 8-week, instructor-led course helps community-based lending institutions develop solar lending products and ensure their communities can access solar energy.  Request for Proposals Open for Organizations to Help Remote or Island Communities with Energy Challenges Does your organization have ties to remote or island communities, understand local energy challenges, and know how to bridge the gap between federal agencies and residents? DOE is seeking up to 12 partner organizations to join its regional partner network for the Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project (ETIPP). ETIPP connects island and remote communities with energy experts at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and other labs to build resilience by addressing and planning for their unique energy challenges and goals. Submit your proposal by January 10, 2024. DOE announced the newest C2C peer-learning cohort, which includes leaders from 46 local, regional, and Tribal organizations. This multicommunity engagement will convene to exchange strategies and best practices, learn in a collaborative environment, and workshop policy or program proposals, action plans, or strategies to overcome challenges and advance local clean energy goals, including solar-plus-storage and microgrid projects.
